TRAVEL AND CAR HIRE

During the summer months travel is relatively easy from the UK and, outside the high season, not too expensive. From May 2008 Easyjet are operating a scheduled service out of Gatwick and Jet2 are offering a service out of Leeds Bradford. And Aegean Airways are commencing scheduled flights out of Stansted. Many 'cheap' flights are on offer, just look at www.cheapflights.co.uk, or another good source is lastminute.com. For those with a romantic streak, and not in a great rush to get to Crete, then take a flight to Athens, onward to Pireaus, and take the ferry to Heraklion. Some ferries do stop off at Agios Nikolaos.

Taxis are ever present at Heraklion Airport, or the ports, and reasonably inexpensive to Latsida or Limnes.

Car Hire

As long as you are over the age of 23, car hire can be arranged. We have good contacts with a car hire company and can get you a very competitive quote. You can pick up the car at the airport, port or the car can be delivered to your house.

Travelling in winter

During the low months, end Oct to Greek Orthodox Easter, there are at present no direct flights to Crete, and one has to take a flight to Athens, and then an internal flight to Heraklion, (or the ferry). Although most of the tourist sites close down for the winter period, it is still possible to get car hire. Crete in winter is a wonderful opportunity to explore the island and the weather can still be good.
